HM Supper Evening: Fri. 12th October 2018:
This was held at our Barwell church and an enjoyable and informative evening was shared by all guests who attended. Our thanks go to our friends at Barwell for hosting the evening. Heather White from ‘Dogs for Good’ gave an excellent presentation telling us about the work the charity undertakes with people of all ages. Her PowerPoint presentation highlighted the many uses these specially trained dogs can be put to: from being a calming and trusted companion for a child who has autism, to being a valued helper aiding someone who requires assistance around the home e.g. getting clothes out of a washing machine.
Inclusive of a retiring collection, £275 was forwarded to the on-going work of ‘Dogs for Good’ and a further £100 was raised for ‘The Mission in Britain Fund’.
Lent Fundraising 2019:
For our Lent fundraising appeal this year, members of the Mission team voted to support our local children’s charity, ‘Heart Link’ based at Glenfield Hospital. I’m sure you will agree with me that the life-saving procedures undertaken by the dedicated doctors and nurses of these very sick children, is worthy of our support. We are therefore asking each church to collect a ‘Bucket of Change’ (or indeed any fundraising event you might care to arrange) to generate funds for ‘Heart Link’.
OM Supper Evening 2019: Tues. 7th May:
Our Newbold Verdon church has kindly agreed to be the venue for our next supper evening. The charity we will be supporting is, ‘Open Doors’ which supports persecuted Christians in over 60 countries worldwide. Our speaker, Martin Cox will be telling us about the work of the charity. Further details will be sent nearer the time.
Finally, may I, on behalf of our Missions Committee, thank all our churches who continue to support this vital part of our Circuit Missions work.
