5 Practices of Fruitful Congregations

Thursday 26th March 2015

Hospitality

Christian hospitality refers to the active desire to invite, welcome, receive, and care for those who are strangers so that they find a spiritual home and discover for themselves the unending richness of life in Christ.

Hospitality is prayer, work, habit, practice, and initiative for the purposes of Christ.

The greatest contribution we can make to the Body of Christ is inviting someone else or helping a newcomer feel genuinely welcome so that she or he receives what we have received.

Radical Hospitality | Five Practices.

Worship

We don’t attend worship to squeeze God into our lives; we seek to meld our lives into God’s.

Passionate Worship means an extraordinary eagerness to offer the best in worship, honoring God with excellence and with an unusual clarity about the purpose of connecting people to God.

Passionate Worship | Five Practices.

Faith Development

Vibrant, fruitful, growing congregations practice Intentional Faith Development.

Churches that practice Intentional Faith Development offer high quality learning experiences that help people understand Scripture, faith, and life in the supportive nurture of caring relationships.

Intentional Faith Development | Five Practices.

Mission and Service

Mission initiatives change the lives of those who receive the help.

Hands-on mission projects change the lives of volunteers.
Risk-Taking Mission and Service is one of the fundamental activities of church life that is so critical that failure to practice it in some form results in a deterioration of the church’s vitality and ability to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Risk-Taking Mission & Service | Five Practices.

Generosity

Vibrant, fruitful, growing congregations practice Extravagant Generosity.
Scripture is replete with examples and teachings that focus on possessions, wealth, giving, gifts, generosity, offerings, charity, sacrifice, and sharing with those in need.

Extravagant Generosity | Five Practices.
