Worshiping God is central to all we do as a church. We welcome everyone, of all ages and backgrounds into our worship services. We come together as a church community on a Sunday for prayer, praise and preaching:
Sundays at 10.45am
Various types of service: All-age, Parade, Traditional, Holy Communion, Baptism…
Sunday School and Crèche is available for children, who always join us for at least part of the service.
Wednesday Service and Quiet Time
We meet together for a small service (usually half an hour in the small ‘devotional room’) each Wednesday at 10am. The church is also open and available for quiet personal prayer on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, 10.00am to 12.00 noon.
Holy Communion
Holy Communion (also called The Lord’s Supper) takes place regularly: once a month in our main Sunday worship, and also during some Wednesday services (please see the Beacon magazine or weekly notices for details). We recognise that Holy Communion is a sacred act – a celebration of God’s love and grace for each one of us – and so we welcome all to take part and receive the bread and wine. Children of all ages are very welcome to take bread and wine (although some families may want a simple blessing instead).
Baptisms, Thanksgivings and Confirmations
We believe that God’s love and grace is for all, even before we know anything of it. Children and babies are welcome to be baptized into the Church, upon request to the minister.
For parents who want to celebrate a new birth in the family without full baptism, the church offers a service of thanksgiving for the baby.
We also welcome adults and older children who wish to be baptised, and perhaps become full members of the Church.
Adults and older children who have been baptised as infants may be confirmed in order to accept their place in God’s Church. Please talk to the minister for more details.
Weddings and blessings
Weddings and blessings of marriage can be arranged by conversation with the minister. Find out more about weddings and blessings at Barwell
